Jenkins and Nanovic Halls at the University of Notre Dame serve as the home for several academic disciplines, including global affairs, international studies, civil and human rights, international peace, global development, European studies, economics, political science, and sociology. These two four-story buildings, spanning a total of 185,000 square feet, provide a dedicated space for academic collaboration and interdisciplinary learning.
Positioned between the two halls is a five-story tower featuring a CopperCraft spire, a defining architectural element that reinforces the visual and structural integrity of the buildings. Additionally, the buildings’ exteriors include a range of architectural features such as different window types, buttresses, and arches.
A custom-designed CopperCraft turret further enhances the classic aesthetic, reflecting the university’s traditional architectural style while incorporating modern craftsmanship. The meticulous detailing required for the spire and turret distinguishes these buildings on campus, making them landmarks that symbolize academic excellence and global impact.

CopperCraft provided custom metalwork solutions to support the architectural vision of Jenkins and Nanovic Halls. The project involved:
Custom Turret and Spire Fabrication: CopperCraft engineered and fabricated a spire for the five-story tower and a turret to complement the structures’ traditional aesthetic. These elements contribute to the distinct character of the buildings while maintaining durability and long-term performance.
Material and Finish Selection: The project utilized Freedom Gray Copper, a pre-weathered copper finish that offers both durability and a refined appearance. This finish was selected to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding architectural elements while ensuring longevity in various environmental conditions.
Collaboration with Installation Experts: The installation was carried out by Dudeck Roofing & Sheet Metal, a contractor experienced in complex architectural metalwork. Coordination between CopperCraft and the installation team ensured precision in the placement and securing of the spire and turret.
